Senate inquiry ramps up pressure on Adani

The Australian Greens are going to haul each and every one of the Northern Australian Investment Facility's directors before the Senate committee until the rampant conflicts of interests surrounding their board are resolved, Greens leader Dr Richard Di Natale said.

"We can’t spend $5 billion of taxpayers money without having complete assurance that everything is above board and today’s hearing shows that the board has advanced the Adani project against their own investment rules," Di Natale said.

Turnbull’s contamination taskforce must publicly report activities

Ahead of the visit of Turnbull government’s contamination taskforce to the Williamtown ‘red zone’ in NSW tomorrow, Greens Senator Lee Rhiannon has urged the government to publicly report on the taskforce’s activities.
 
Senator James McGrath is the head of the prime ministerial contamination taskforce. 
 
“For many residents tomorrow’s visit will be too little too late, and I certainly understand that. It has been a long, hard slog for many residents whose lives have been upturned by this disaster,” Senator Rhiannon said.

Greens call for transparency around firefighting foams

The Greens have again criticised the Department of Defence for their ongoing use of firefighting foams containing PFAS in Darwin and Townsville. 
 
Today they called on the Department of Defence and Air Services Australia to release the Material Safety Data Sheets of all the firefighting foams that they are currently using.
 
Greens NSW Senator Lee Rhiannon said. “There are no good arguments for the continued use of firefighting foams containing PFOS, PFOA or PFHxS,” Greens NSW Senator Lee Rhiannon said.
