Disabled person and spokesperson for Disability Rights and Services Senator Jordon Steele-John has announced the Australian Greens have released a plan to end discrimination experienced by disabled people in education and employment.

“The week of International Day of People with Disabilities The Australian Greens have announced a plan to make our education system accessible to everyone, and break down the barriers disabled people are experiencing in employment.

The Greens will today announce key election policies, including a ‘billionaires tax’ to help fund genuinely free public schools, dental into Medicare and a job for everyone who wants one. 

With the party considering an election in November of this year still a possibility and a minority parliament the most likely outcome, Mr Bandt will push for a tax on billionaires & corporate super profits as part of dealings with a future shared power government.

The Australian Greens have thrown their support behind the push from big business to tackle the climate crisis and the economic recovery from the coronavirus together. 

The calls, led by the Australian Industry Group, come as a report released Tuesday shows that as much as one-third of the world’s population will be exposed to heat likened to the Sahara Desert within fifty years unless we urgently cut pollution. 

Greens Leader Adam Bandt said today’s jobs figures reveal a jobs crisis in Australia, especially amongst young people, and underscore the need for urgent government intervention to provide meaningful, secure work in a climate-challenged economy.

“These figures reveal a government with no plan to create meaningful work for young people in a climate-challenged economy,” said Mr Bandt.

“Nearly one in three young people either doesn’t have a job or doesn’t have enough hours of work. It’s a national scandal.”
